Meeting Cancellation Policy - If the Prince William County Schools System cancels or delays the opening of the schools then the Gainesville-Haymarket Rotary club will NOT have the meeting. You can call the Prince William County school public information line (703) 791-2776 after 5:30 AM for school status.



March 30, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting

  • Prince William Cardiology Associates Our first guest speaker Dr. Christopher Leet of Prince William Cardiology Associatestalked to us about life style management that can dramatically reduce health problems for individuals. Dr. Leet has been treating patients with heart disease for the past three decades. Club member Jim Miller pointed out that Dr. Leet has been recognized numerous times as a "Top Doctor" in Washingtonian Magazine, and as a "Best Doctor" in Northern Virginia Magazine and Consumers' Checkbook.


  • Our second guest speaker Colleen Bonadonna from the West Point Rotary Club came to visit our club and presented a 200/200 Certificate to our Club President Alan Myers. Colleeen is on a '200 Clubs 200 Days for the $200 Million Polio Plus Challenge' road trip and she is very close to reaching her goal. March 23, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting

  • Relay For LifeThe club was delighted to have our guest speaker JoAnn D. Murchison (left), Community Manager of the American Cancer Society in Prince William County, VA, talked to us about the ACS services, volunteer opportunities, and the ACS's signature event called Relay For Life. This year the 2011 Relay For Life of Haymarket/Gainesville will be held from Friday, June 17, 2011 through Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Battlefield High School.


  • Club President Alan Myers (right) continued to encourage club members to bring in toiletries and/or checks during the next two meetings for the Wounded Warriors Project.




March 16, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting

  • The club wished Shawn Landry a Happy Birthday.
  • Club member Mark Cooke, a remarkable trumpeter (left), gave the club a special treat by playing several of his trumpets to show us how each sounds. Mark also gave us a brief history of each instrument and his music education. Thank you, Mark.
  • Club President Alan Myers (right) encouraged club members to bring in toiletries and/or checks during the next two meetings for the Wounded Warriors Project. These items will be packed on Friday, April the 8th, during the 2011 District Conference and later be delivered to our wounded servicemen and women who are in military hospitals in Virginia and surrounding areas. Please see below for the suggested items.

March 9, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting

  • Club President Alan Myers (left) has secured a table for the club to showcase our Children's Wellness Festival project at the upcoming Rotary District Conference in Gettysburg, PA.
  • Quality Business Engineering Club member Shawn Landry (right) gave us an informative classification talk of the recent work his company QBE LLC is doing for the US Army.





March 4, 2011 - First Friday Fellowship

Rotarians and family members gathered at the Eggspectation restaurant in Gainesville at 6:00 PM for a wonderful fellowship dinner. Be on the look out for the next fellowship gathering.



March 2, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting

  • Our thoughts and prayers go to our Club President Alan Myers, his wife Susan, and their family. We hope to see Alan back in Rotary meetings in the very near future.
  • Our guest speaker Sharon Henry gave us a wonderful presentation on SPARK, the Education Foundation for Prince William County Public Schools. She is pictured with our immediate past Club President Charlie Mills.
