Meeting Cancellation Policy - If the Prince William County Schools System cancels or delays the opening of the schools then the Gainesville-Haymarket Rotary club will NOT have the meeting. You can call the Prince William County school public information line (703) 791-2776 after 5:30 AM for school status.
February 23, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting
- Club President Alan Myers (right) congratulated Shawn Landry (left) for achieving a PHF+2 status. Shawn received a Multiple Paul Harris Fellow pin with two sapphires which is given for those who have donated $3,000 to $3,999.99 or for those who have that amount contributed in their name.

- Jamie Repesh gave us a wonderful classification talk about herself, her family, and her business.

February 16, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting
- Amelia Stansell received Paul Harris Fellow recognition for her contributions to the humanitarian and educational programs of the Rotary Foundation. She received a certificate, pin, & medallion from Club President Alan Myers.


- Our guest speaker Jonathan Arehart, President & CEO of Cavendo, gave a presentation on social media and its impact on business and society.

February 9, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting
Assistant Disctrict Governor (ADG) David Mercer (right) presented the Shelter Box 2009-2010 Supporting Club emblem and the Certificate of Appreciation for the club's support of the Rotary's US$200 Million Challenge from the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International to our Club President Alan Myers (left). Sheltor Box (A global Rotary Club project) is an international disaster relief charity that provides emergency shelter to people affected by disaster worldwide.

Our guest speaker Cyndi Cooke provided an update on Child Rescue Centre and Mercy Hospital in Bo, Sierra Leone. These are the two African programs from the Helping Children Worldwide organization.
February 4, 2011 - First Friday Fellowship
Rotarians and family members gathered at the Bungalow Ale House (directly across the walkway from UNOs) in the Virginia Gateway Center in Gainesville at 6:00 PM for a wonderful fellowship dinner. Be on the look out for the next fellowship gathering.
February 2, 2011 - Rotary club's weekly meeting
- Club President Alan Myers discussed the Rotary District 7610 Conference 2011 to be held in Gettysburg from April 7th through April 10th and enouraged members to attend.
- Immediate Past President Charlie Mills announced the names of the new board of directors for the coming 2011-2012 year.
Benjalyn "Benji" Moon, Executive Director of the Brethren Housing Corporation, provided an overview of the organization to the Rotary club members. The mission of this nonprofit organization is to provide affordable housing to moderate and low-income residents of Prince William County in Virginia. Benji manages the daily operations and finds the work to be a very rewarding experience since she has been able to inspire a few residents to get higher education to better themselves. To her education matters, and it's never too late to go back to school.
