First Friday Fellowship - June 5.
Our next First Friday Fellowship will take place on June 5 at the Desiderio Italian-American Grill in Gainesville. We will meet for dinner and informal fellowship at 6 pm. Come out and get to know your fellow Rotary members and their spouses in a relaxed, friendly environment. The restaurant is located in the same shopping center as the Harris Teeter at the intersection of Route 29 and Route 15. Spouses are welcome. Please RSVP to Amelia Stansell so she has an accurate head count for the restaurant.
GH-Rotary Welcomes New Member Lisa Campbell!
At our meeting last week, we had the pleasure of inducting our latest member into the Gainesville-Haymarket Rotary Club. Congratulations and welcome to Lisa Campbell, whose husband Bill was inducted into our group last week. We look forward to getting to know each of you better.
TODAY'S PROGRAM
Austin House, Farthest CornersAustin House is a native of Nokesville, VA. Following graduation from Brentsville High School in Nokesville, Austin entered the US Army, where he served with distinction as a Chaplain’s Assistant and an Army Ranger. Three years following his discharge from the Army he graduated from Virginia Military Institute. Following graduation he accepted a mission assignment to teach English in a school in Udon, Thailand
In February of 2006, while home on furlough Austin met with a small group at Greenwich Presbyterian Church to share his vision for a mission he felt led to start in Asia. Plans for this mission took shape while fulfilling the teaching assignment in Udon. His time off from teaching was spent traveling into Burma where he witnessed firsthand the plight of displaced persons fleeing from the Burma Army. Some of these people, many from the Karen nation, flee to refugee camps; others stay hidden in the jungles until the Army leaves, then they head back to their often burned out villages.
Austin’s vision convicted the group to agree to form Farthest Corners with the commitment to provide humanitarian aid as well as spiritual and educational assistance to the displaced people of Burma. In March 2006, he returned to Asia as field coordinator for the newly-formed organization. Working from his base in Chiang Mai, Thailand he organizes missions into Burma and also works in refugee camps along the Thai/Burma border. He arranges for the purchase and delivery of medical kits, rice and other food supplies, and educational supplies to villages where Farthest Corners serves.
Austin and his wife, Sinte, a Burmese national, have been in the United States since April, speaking to groups about their work. They are pleased to be able to share their experiences with you today.

GH-Rotary Surpasses Foundation Giving Goal!
As you can see from our thermometer, The Gainesville-Haymarket Rotary club has exceeded our Foundation Giving goal by a longshot! We had a goal of $3300 and to date we have raised $5570! Thanks to everyone for supporting the Rotary Foundation!
Special thanks to Russ Tuck, who was our Rotary Foundation Chair this year. He did an excellent job of educating us on all that is accomplished through the Rotary Foundation and the importance of everyone contributing to this important cause in some way. His leadership went a long way in us achieving our "Every Rotarian Every Year" goals.
Message From Our Interact Club Sponsor.
I wanted to thank both of you, George and Lori, for your dedication to the Interact Club this year. Without you, this would not be possible for our kids at Battlefield. Through your hard work, the students have gained valuable experience in the community and abroad. Leadership skills have been fostered, and after looking back, these students will definitely take care of our tomorrows.
Thanks again for your support!

Excellence is the result of:
- caring more than others think wise
- risking more than others think is safe
- dreaming more than others think is practical
- and expecting more than others think is possible
