Friday Fellowship at El Vaquero West

Members of the Gainesville-Haymarket Rotary Club got together last Friday for an evening of fellowship and a delicious dinner at El Vaquero West restaurant in Haymarket. Here are a few photos of our club members and spouses enjoying a wonderful evening together. Photos courtesy of Don Rusch.

TODAY'S PROGRAM

CURT AND MARGARET DIERDORFF, Volunteer Chaplains

Curt and Margaret are engaged in a number of volunteer opportunities including the Industrial Commercial Ministries (ICM) chaplain program. They both serve as chaplains at the Gainesville Health and Rehab Center where they have been since the facility first opened. Both Curt and Margaret are members of the ICM National Board. In addition, Curt is presently involved with chaplain work at Dulles Airport where he is working with the Assistant Fire Chief to establish a chaplain program for the firefighters.

In their professional lives, Curt and Margaret were employed by Department of Defense and Freddie Mac Corporation respectively. Curt served as the senior human resources executive for a DoD intelligence component with a worldwide mission. Margaret was a mortgage underwriter for Freddie Mac focusing on non-performing loans.

Curt and Margaret have two children and two grandsons all of whom live locally. They are members of Floris United Methodist Church in Herndon. They are both active in a Christian weekend retreat weekend called The Walk to Emmaus and have served in leadership positions with that organization

LAST WEEK'S PROGRAM

Timothy Burtch, Aircraft Accident Investigator - National Transportation Safety Board

Tim gave an interesting presentation on the science and teamwork that goes into investigating airplane accidents. He described the procedures for gathering data and studying the evidence to piece together what caused the accident in order to try to prevent the same types of problems from happening in the future. He described his work as "CSI for airplanes".
