  • For all of you whose passion and wisdom is shared openly in your emails
  • ;
  • For all of you whose wisdom has kept your President from making mistakes;
  • For your willingness to explain;
  • For your patience with process;
  • For the treasure you have offered to Rotary.
You are an inspiration to me. You make me proud to be a Rotarian. I appreciate you.


Done In A Day School Supplies Project for PACE West

PACE West is a regional special education program providing services to students with serious emotional and behavior problems in grades 1-12. PACE West was opened in September 1994 to provide a second day school program for students with emotional disturbance in Prince William County. PACE West moved to its current location in Haymarket in September 1995.

PACE West serves Western Prince William County, City of Manassas, City of Manassas Park, and Fauquier County.

The make up the school is which is mostly boys:

  • 25 Elementary Students
  • 30 Middle School Students
  • 45 High School Students

This year you can purchase the supplies list below and bring them to the meeting this week or next or donate funds and we will shop for you.

Here is a list of the supplies the school could use:

  • 1" Binders. - They need at least 45 binders - one for each high school student.
  • Index Cards on Flip Rings
  • Graph Paper
  • Pencils & Pens
  • Dry Erase Markers/Erasers
  • Small White Dry Erase Boards for the Students w/ Small Dry Erase Markers
  • Clean Socks that the Students can use for Erasers
  • Simple Backpacks they asked if possible to get mesh ones and remember most of the students are boys
  • Note book paperMarbled Composition Books
  • Wipes should be regular Baby wipes.
  • Wide Rule Paper

TODAY'S PROGRAM

Colin Davis, Executive Director, The BARN

Colin is the executive director of Transitional Housing BARN, Inc., in Bristow, VA. BARN provides transitional housing to homeless women and their children for up to two years. Prior to joining BARN, Colin was the program director for a family shelter in Arlington, VA. He also has served as the executive director of a transitional house for homeless men, has worked with teens leaving the foster care system, and has served as a social worker in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of Children’s Hospital in Washington, DC.

Colin obtained his Bachelor of Social Work from James Madison University and Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland. He has worked in the field of social work for 10 years. The majority of his career has focused on the homeless.

Kris Johnson, Prince William/Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce

Kris spoke about the benefits of Chamber membership and told the audience how we could best take advantage of the chamber in order to get information out on Rotary projects via their website, newsletters and by attending chamber functions to network with other members.
